That’s right. I do not maintain a public drop off location for computer repairs. Unfortunately some people end up going elsewhere to have their computer fixed. Some people are a little skeptical. I don’t fault anyone for that at all. I mean, you come across this site and see decent repair rates but maybe you have never heard about DelawarePCtech.com. I think about 50% of the inquiries I get from my website don’t choose me mainly because I don’t maintain a public drop off location.

Here are the biggest reasons why I will come pick up your computer for repair:

  1. This is a home-based business.  My insurance does not cover me for having employees and customers here.
  2. If I leased commercial space my PC repair rates would double at the minimum just to cover extra expenses.
  3. 95% of the repairs I do are more feasibly completed at my location.  For example, virus removal services alone can take 6 or more hours of running scans and utilities required to effectively repair a system.
  4. It is a liability issue if a customer or employee comes to my home.

When I make arrangements with someone to pick up their computer for repair they are given all of my contact information including my address.  You get a contract with my business name and information on it.  That’s fine, you should expect that at the least if I am going to have your computer in my possession.  But, even when that computer is all fixed and ready to return, I still cannot have you come pick it up.  I will return it to you, my gas, my mileage, my time, my service to you.

In my efforts to try to ease future customer’s worries I want you to know that I hold a valid business license in the state of Delaware and I am insured.  Ask any insurance agent and you will learn there are different types of insurance policies.  If I held the kind that allowed me to have employees or customers on my premises than again, you can bet my repair rates would more than double.

So, one other thing I want to do here is invite past customers to comment on this post.  I would love to have the customers that have found me through this site to comment on my honesty, dependability, and dedication to this business.  I have a ton of customers and testimonials from simple word of mouth advertising but now I would love to see my website only customers write a little to help future customers feel more at ease.

This means that your spyware may reinstall itself if you have to run a system restore, simply because it’s been saved there. Turn off your system restore function before you work on spyware removal and turn it back on once you’ve finished.

Remove the Power Source

Learn How to Repair Oversized PST Files

Having hassles with oversized Outlook PST files. Even today, this is a common problem and when it occurs, it can render your Outlook completely unusable. It was more prevalent in the older versions, but since many users are still on these versions, it is important to know how to fix.

When using PST files, there was a filesize limit of 2GB. This was updated as of Outlook 2003, but it also depends on the filesystem as ANSI files could only support a maximum size of 2GB. Below are the versions that suffered worst from this problem:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Outlook 2002 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Outlook 98 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Outlook 97 Standard Edition

While versions of Outlook 2003 onwards no longer have the 2GB PST limit on Personal Folders, but the limit still applies to IMAP accounts. The only way to get around the IMAP restriction is with Outlook 2007. This now allows for HTTP and IMAP accounts to use unicode, therefore the 2GB limit should not apply. But unless you can install the latest version, you need to know how to fix the problem and avoid it in future.

Having an oversized PST file is very frustrating, because it is not easy to detect. Usually the mail will just freeze, or it will seem to be working normally, but you won’t receive any new emails. This makes it very tricky to debug and it can be a real headache, as we usually check all the other problems first.

If your email suddenly stops, start first by checking the filesize of your PST. If is very close to the 2GB mark, that is most likely the problem. In order to address the problem, you need to delete emails or archive messages. Sometimes you might need to delete the messages directly from the server if your account is completely locked. Unfortunately, I have to raise my prices to help cover the many costs associated with doing business.  Rest assured though that my work still comes with a satisfaction guarantee.  To me, that’s just the way business should be conducted.

Whenever you hire me for the job, you can count on someone that keeps their appointments, provides fair estimates for repairs, always tries to preserve your data, sees a job through to the end and will return in any event that something didn’t turn out completely satisfactory.  I never claim to offer phone support but I have provided many of my customers with answers and simple fixes over the phone whenever possible.  I also will provide continued tips to simple common problems through email if needed.

I don’t try to out-bid other repair technicians to provide cheap repairs.  I value my work and stand behind it every step of the way.  Many times my customers have definitely received more services and time then what they were originally given an estimate for.  It just goes along with my mission to “over-deliver” and maintain a good old fashion philosophy with service delivery.

If I have an appointment to come to your location for a repair or configuration issue you know you will be getting someone with an IT Certification dedicated to troubleshooting and effectively solving your computer related problems.  With many companies, it can be a crap shoot.  You don’t always know if the technician coming into your home is fully certified and honestly has your best interest in mind.

When I give you an estimate I stick to it.  If I underestimate the time I don’t go running away from my customer as fast as I can when my hourly rate begins to drop drastically.  A lot of other companies are set up in a way where you pay the company a huge amount of money and the poor technician will only see about $30 of it, if anything at all.  They know that if they can’t get the job done in the time that their company estimated for then it’s money out of their pocket and time out of their life.  They don’t have any other incentive to really see a problem through to the end.  It’s not their company name on the line.

New Policies

New payment acceptance policy.

Payment for PC Repair Services must be in the form of cash or credit cards via PayPal.   Checks are no longer accepted. 

If you have a PayPal account you could simply send payment to the email address listed on your final invoice.

If you don’t have a PayPal account, a PayPal invoice will be emailed to you instructing you on how to complete payment. 

 

New Pick-Up/Drop-Off Deposit Requirement with Signed Contract.

When your computer is picked up for service a $50.00 refundable deposit is required.  Deposits are accepted in the form of cash or credit cards via PayPal.   If you choose to place a deposit with credit card, the transaction must be processed before your computer is picked up.

The $50 deposit is applied to your final bill/invoice.

In the event the work cannot be completed for whatever reason, your $50 deposit will be returned to you along with your original equipment.  If deposit was made with credit card it will be refunded to your card.  If deposit was made with cash, you will receive cash back.
